Greenland Bikepacking
September 2026

“I’ve never worked harder for a single mile of travel,” my tentmate said. But he meant each and every mile.

We’d wake up in the morning, realize we had only 14 hours of daylight to pedal 27 miles, and wondered if we could do it. “I once pedaled over 400 miles in 22 hours, and now I'm doubting my ability to pedal 27.”

The idea was for the 4 of us—Chris Shane, Chris Burkard, Josh Reid, and me—to ride our mountain bikes from the ocean to the ice cap and back. We would start in Greenland’s second-biggest
